  • 40% of Americans personally know someone who has died from an overdose.
  • The opioid epidemic costs the U.S. over $1 trillion annually, with disproportionate impact on low-income communities.
  • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year, yet fewer than half receive treatment.

Connecticut landscape

  • Alcohol-related deaths in Connecticut have nearly tripled since 2012.
  • The state recorded over 1,400 overdose deaths in 2022, the vast majority involving fentanyl.
  • Our clients come to us at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Many face multiple layers of vulnerability including financial strain (96%), housing instability (21%) or co-occurring disorders, trauma, and cycles of incarceration.
  • In Fairfield County, access to care varies dramatically by ZIP code, race, income, and insurance status.

Our Mission

Liberation Programs’ mission is to provide mental health services encompassing substance use prevention, treatment and community outreach throughout Fairfield County. We help individuals and their families foster hope and maintain wellness.
