Women's
Center of Excellence
An Expansion and Enhancement of the
Families in Recovery Program
There
is a documented need to serve more pregnant and parenting women
battling the disease of addiction
The
Facts:
- Connecticut
Alcohol and Drug Policy Council reports that there are 25,000
pregnant and parenting women in the state who are in need of substance
abuse treatment.
- Drug and
alcohol addiction are a factor in the placement of more than three-quarters
of children entering foster care.
- The lack
of available and affordable childcare, housing and transportation
are the three most significant barriers to treatment for women
with children.
The
Women's Center of Excellence is our vision to aid
mothers as they recover, rebuild and reclaim their lives.
Our
Goals:
- Promote sobriety,
wellness and self-sufficiency
- Ensure the
healthy birth of newborns
- Strengthen,
preserve and reunite families
- Break the
cycle of generational addiction
Help
us revamp and revitalize programs and services that cater to the
unique treatment needs of mothers.
